Local Leaders of Education
Aiming for Outstanding
Local Leaders of Education (LLE) Programme linked to Teaching Schools aims to develop and
improve schools within local areas by deploying experienced Headteachers to work as
coaches and mentors to other Headteachers.
Typical activities include:
negotiating objectives for improvement
coaching and mentoring the Headteacher to develop skills, judgement and professional effectiveness
supporting or arranging coaching or training for staff in the supported school
Each placement is negotiated separately with the relevant local authority, teaching school, or other organisation.
Schools that are a priority for support are those where:
attainment is below the minimum standards
the school is considered to be vulnerable
a new, first-time Headteacher has been appointed
Support must be focused on:
Individual placements can vary by intensity and length, but there must be an agreed end point.
A placement could last from 6 months to 3 years. During that time, LLE’s spend between half a day and 1 day a week working with the supported school. Some of the contracted days can be supported by other members of staff in that school that have specialisms in the subject that you require support with. For example, the deputy Headteacher could be asked to work with the partner school’s deputy. Please contact us vis the telephone or website for more information.
